Context

The client, a leading Indian multinational pharmaceuticals company, wanted to ensure consistency of talent, and demonstration of leadership behaviours by employees, particularly at middle and senior-levels. In alignment with this requirement, the organisation wanted to prioritise grooming of internal talent over hiring externally, for the next three years. To enable this, a talent identification and development exercise was to be launched for the Manufacturing and Operations functions. Project imperatives included building commitment and involvement of business leaders and for the exercise to be delivered virtually to effectively cover global locations.

Impact

The customised nature of the assessment process ensured high engagement from both, participants and business leaders.

Through the post-assessment analytics, the client was able to identify a clear pool of talent, in whom they made investments for development and consideration for upcoming positions.

The analytics also flagged likely challenges for the client, along with actions required to address those.

The involvement of business managers from design to delivery resulted in their alignment and strong commitment to building the leadership pipeline.

Approach

BasilTree leveraged its proprietary 3P approach towards holistically assessing nominated employees by seeking feedback from line managers as the ‘Performance’ input, administering a personality questionnaire as the ‘Preference’ input and running robust simulation exercises as the ‘Potential’ input.

The simulation exercises were customised to the pharmaceuticals industry and the context of the client.

The assessment process was run over two phases, with the first being delivered on BasilTree’s online platform, and the second being interactive and assessor-led.

The second phase also saw the involvement of business leaders as ‘internal assessors’, making the exercise a partnership with the client team.

The assessment brought together insights on ‘Performance’, ‘Preference’ and ‘Potential’ in integrated reports and one-on-one feedback for all participants.
