Context

The client, a market leading pharma major, was in the process of re-defining itself to fuel a culture of innovation in a new phase of growth. To achieve this, it was important to identify the leadership behaviours that all employees must demonstrate.

The client had identified pockets of the organisation that required specific focus on talent. They decided to prioritise high potential identification and development, specifically for the manufacturing function.

Given the need to cover employees globally, it was required that the design be virtual, be realistic, culturally relevant and simple.

Impact

The leadership behaviours have become part of the cultural pillars, and all HR processes through the employee lifecycle are being designed around them, several with support from BasilTree.

The assessments gave employees across the globe a fair and engaging platform for being recognised as future talent. In-depth analytics flagged likely challenges for the client in implementing its growth strategy.

The engagement of line managers in talent processes has shot up, ranging from providing process inputs to ownership of the development and retention of top talent.

Approach

BasilTree worked with the client team to create a new Leadership Framework that brings together their business strategy, defined values and priorities for the growth journey.

A customised set of exercises provided participants the opportunity to demonstrate the newly defined behaviours. Despite the virtual nature, participants had the opportunity to provide free text responses, which were then analysed and scored by BasilTree assessors.

The individual assessment feedback report for each participant also provided participants with indicative development guidelines.
