The client, one of India’s largest conglomerates, wanted to re-position their HR function from being an administrative service provider to a business partner, within its Auto and Farm business. This made it necessary to define HR specific functional competencies. To equip the HR team further, the client wanted to understand current level of effectiveness on the identified competencies and accordingly determine developmental interventions.


The role of the HR function became more strategic through this process, by aligning it’s actions to relevant business outcomes. It strongly improved the connect between HR and other business functions.

The functional capabilities framework ensured consistency in the delivery of HR processes for line managers.


BasilTree helped the client draft the functional capability framework, through discussions with the critical stakeholders from the HR team.

These functional capabilities became the basis for simulated functional assessments for more than 200 employees from the HR function. Individuals received a structured feedback at the end of the process.

To equip the cohort in being an effective business partner, workshops to build strategic influencing skills were facilitated.

BasilTree also provided support in incorporating the functional capabilities as part of selection process, to enable the client bring the best-fit HR professionals on board.
