Context

The client, an established player in the Life Insurance sector, wanted to invest in its people to achieve its accelerated business plans. It was looking at developing leadership capabilities of three employee groups: Individual Contributors, Managers of People, and Mangers of Managers. To address this need, the client sought a partner to deliver concise, impactful, and relevant virtual learning sessions. This approach was essential as employees were geographically dispersed and operated in a high-pressure environment.

Impact

Each year, BasilTree conducts 20 to 25 batches, comprising approximately 60 sessions and involving around 600 participants.

Train-the-Trainer (TTT) sessions have been organized for leaders of specific business units to equip them with skills to develop their teams effectively.

To ensure the effectiveness of the intervention:

Batch sizes are kept small, with around 20 participants, allowing ample opportunities for facilitator-participant dialogues and discussions.
Pre-read materials are shared with participants to maximize the short duration of the learning session.

Post-assessment knowledge tests and Situational Judgment Tests (SJT) are administered 3 to 4 weeks after attending the workshop.

Approach

BasilTree conducted stakeholder conversations and focussed group discussions (FGDs) to understand the ground issues. Themes were identified and learning content was curated for each of the three target audiences.

The anecdotal evidences collected during the stakeholder conversations were interwoven in the session content to make it relatable and address the actual issues faced by the audience.

Tailored learning sessions, ranging from 2 to 3 sessions per cohort, were designed, with each session lasting a maximum of 4 hours. Additionally, the delivery was customised to align with different business functions, such as Operations and Central functions, Institutional Business, and Agency and Direct functions.
